Jaguar announce debut album with heavy zouk-inspired groove, encapsulating the down-home sound of Colombia’s
Caribbean Coast Minimal cumbia, funk Caribe, post-disco salsa, Afrobeat meets Arthur Baker; there are many names that could be given to the music made by Colombian duo Jaguar, but none of them quite do it justice. Through the nine tracks of their debut album, the twosome offer up their vision of Colombian dance music, both tied to the past and looking forwards to a post-colonial future. Within the chanted vocals, horn stabs, relentless grooves and sonic succour of Madremonte you will find a Colombia restored and reimagined, a sanctuary built from shared musical heritage, passion and hope driving razor-sharp rhythms into the night.
